Railway union closes Hornaby

The Hornaby Railway Company, a subsidiary of the Pilegron Railway Govcom, has been closed by the union. The company was one of the five railways which formed the union. Nowadays, the line is not used regularly anymore, as its only stop in Hornaby can be reached quicker by going thru Shepton, where more traffic emerges from anyways. Its complex route with a bridge at Hammer, its many tunnels require a lot of maintenance, which the single stop line can't justify. Additionally, removing the current city tunnel and replacing it with new tunnels could significantly reduce the cost of construction for the Northlink, which is currently under construction by the union. Hornaby Station, an architectural masterpiece developed in an art deco style and built in march 2023 will be preserved and has been grade 3 listed. The tracks will be removed and the space reused for cultural events. The bridge will be demolished to reduce any further maintenance cost, tracks and trackbeds will be lifted. A new road from Belton to east Waterworks has been proposed.

Progress is inevitable, but it's a shame to see such a fine station fall into disuse.

It's a shame to see a piece of history fade away like this. Though progress marches on, I can't help but feel nostalgic for the days when lines like the Hornaby connected communities in a more intimate way.

While I understand the necessity of progress, it is always sad to see a historical landmark like Hornaby Station lose its purpose.

It's a shame to see the Hornaby line go, but I understand it makes sense from a practical standpoint.

It's so sad that they're taking away the trains! I like watching them go by.
