The hornaby line has recently been decommissioned and parts of the former trackbed renatured. The only station and landmark building of the Hornaby Line, the Hornaby Station has been listed as a historically important (grade 3) building. The Historic Buildings Commission has added the conversion to a cultural center as a requirement for the building, in an attempt to make the area interesting and preventing the building from just being abandoned. Hornaby Street starting at the junction between New Kenley Street and Enbankment Street and leading northbound has been rerouted to pass the station on the side of the platforms. A set of rochester style houses have been built on the eastern side of the street by the Metrosys Company fot its workers at the nearby headquarters and factory. The Hornaby Cultural Center is being funded by the Hornaby Borough, Shepton Borough and Embankment Borough. It should host events, a bar and restaurant.

Splendid! A cultural center in old Hornaby Station is just what that part of town needs. Perhaps they'll have a space for local artisans to display their work.

I hope they include a library! It would be wonderful to have a place to borrow books and enjoy quiet reading in such a beautiful old building.
