A building in the Rawie Complex has to be destroyed to link up University Street and the extended Brunock Street. Public outrage from locals has lead to a petition against the demolition, which has garnered a great amount of support city-wide. A licensed demonstration march has been held last week on friday, where the residents and supporters from all over the city marched the streets in Embankment, demanding the street projects get cut back in favor of public housing projects. The City Council responsible for the road and demolition have stated that they prioritize social housing over street projects, but sacrifices have to be made in order for new districts to be allocated. The demolition will be executed next week.

It's a shame to see buildings torn down when so many need housing! I hope the City Council listens to the people and finds a better solution.

Progress is important, but surely there must be a way to achieve it without tearing down homes and displacing families.

It's a shame to see such a thing happen. Progress shouldn't come at the cost of people's homes.

They say they prioritize public housing but then tear down buildings to make wider roads for carriages? It seems like empty promises.

It's a real shame they have to tear down those buildings. I wonder if they could find another way to connect the streets?

It is deeply saddening to think of families losing their homes for the sake of wider roads. Surely there must be a more compassionate way to progress.
