We have too many people trying to move into the city. The overcrowding problem is getting worse, even tho the country side is better connected by rail nowadays. A storm of people are rushing into the city caused by the current economic conditions. The city has already responded by building 17 flats in the Metropolitan Housing Row in
Hornaby, but this is not enough. The whole empty area on
Enfield has been opened up to housing developers. The city wants to let the free market create housing quickly. Discussions about converting the farmlands into housing space in
Barnsley are ongoing.
Straton Housing Company has already come up with a scheme to fix the issue, with their new HouSys. The system developed by the former
Bexley graduates allows houses to be built at incredible speed, without making them all look the same. The company has requested permission to start construction in
Enfield. Straton is based in
Shepton near Farreach Monument.
