Relocation is Erasure

Kowloon Rebel

They dress it up with pretty words — “relocation,” “redevelopment,” “humanitarian planning.” But we know the truth. Relocation is nothing more than erasure. They want to sweep Kowloon off the map, tear down our homes, scatter our families, and sell our land to the highest bidder. Danue hides behind “old records.” Hammer hides behind “public safety.” And the banks hide behind their polished glass, plotting their profit. They say Abyssian Wharf is a “better place” for us. Better for who? For the mothers who will lose their neighbors? For the children forced from the only streets they’ve ever known? For the families dumped into concrete blocks while their true homes are smashed to dust? No — “better” only for the ones who would feast on our square, who already dream of gilded plazas where our markets now stand. Make no mistake: this is an attack. Relocation is not a choice, it is exile. It is a scheme to break our unity, to drive wedges between us, to strip us of the community we built with our own hands. They want Kowloon without the Kowloonians. But they will not succeed. We know what we are fighting for. Every pot of herbs sold in the Yellow House, every bite of food cooked in the night market, every crooked wall built by our fathers — it all belongs to us. We are not rubble to be swept aside. We are a people, and we will resist. If they send bulldozers, we will stand in front of them. If they send walls, we will climb higher. If they send soldiers, we will remind them that Kowloon has never been ruled, only defended. Relocation is their weapon. Resistance is ours. Kowloon will not be erased. Kowloon will fight. Kowloon will live.
