Kowloon has been making headlines recently, especially since many people moved to the disputed area. All the area, even the newly allocated plot by
New Republic has been built up, with new floors being stacked on top of existing buildings, further increasing the risk of collapse amid the unconventional construction methods.
The area currently encompasses 120 dwellings on around 700b2 of land - six times the density of normal
Rochester-style housing.
Most residents live a normal life, but unlicensed shops and dangerous goods are being produced in the tight alleys. There have been reports about firework manufacturers, weed growers, shady potion dealers and stolen goods traders.
Three boroughs still fight for the area, each claiming it as their own land:
New Republic,
Danue and
Hammer.
Danue goes the legal route: According to the property register, the two allocated properties in
Kowloon, #3d8d3755 and #e40db3cb, are both registered to their borough. They claim that the area thus belongs to them. They have brought the issue to
Law House, a decision will follow soon.
The borough of
New Republic, a supporter, has just offered the residents a free registration offer for all 120 dwellings. Their goal is to get the residents on their side, saying court opinions.
Hammer has been quiet recently, as their status as the banking hub is being threatened by the newly allocated plots in Enbankment and
Waterworks, which are both trying to pouch the displeased banks away from
Hammer to move to their districts.
Lloydes Banking Company already operates out of Enbankment, while
Common Mekle Investment Bank Company has just purchased a plot in Enbankment. Upon request, BNP stated their intention to buy land in
Waterworks to us. Bidding will begin soon.
